Ever wonder what those creatures crawling under a log are? How about under that wet leaf pile or in your garden? Insects are essential to the “tree of life” – the ecosystem! The total number of insect species has been estimated at between six and ten million, and potentially over 90% of the animal life forms on Earth are insects. Yet we often take little notice of most of them.
We invite you to a delightful “organized roaming” through the woods, wet area, fruit & vegetable garden, pollinator garden, and herb garden at the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. This special field trip will be led by Jerry DeWitt, Professor Emeritus of Entomology at Iowa State University and Garden Director at the Holly Springs Food Cupboard.
