Clean and Green

The Clean and Green Program is the newest one, and South Wake Conservationists quickly embraced it. Trees are a vital source of food and shelter for wildlife and also improve water and air quality, reduce pollution and help lower temperatures by providing shade. With this exciting program, we hold events to collect trash in underserved communities near streams, rivers, lakes, ponds and wetlands, which is not only unsightly, but is a danger to wildlife and the environment. The best part is that this is then exchanged for native trees and shrubs, which we plant in subsequent events. Each 25-pound bag of trash collected qualifies for one tree or shrub to plant!
