SWC Native Plant Sale a Success!

Plant Sale Table and Crowd

SWC partnered with Simple Gifts Community Garden at their new location in Apex on Sunday, Oct. 1, to hold a joint native plant sale and organic community garden tour. The weather was beautiful, and many people turned out to find their favorite plants and check out the new garden site, which just relocated this year. There were twenty different plant species offered, thanks to the generous plant donations by NCWF, as well as plants personally cultivated by Chad Chandler. This was a great fundraiser for the chapter, and hopefully some of the visitors will also want to start volunteering at the garden, which grows fresh, organic produce to contribute to local food pantries. The garden also has a strong commitment to pollinators as part of the Butterfly Highway and is re-building its large beds dedicated to a diverse set of pollinator plants. Plants left over from the sale are being planted there, reinforcing public support and appreciation of the pollinators!
