Join the South Wake Conservationists as they welcome guest speaker Dr. Salina Locke. Dr. Locke works with many different wildlife rescues, rehabilitation facilities and wildlife educators to treat wildlife that is injured. She will share stories of wildlife seen through veterinary practice.
Dr. Locke earned her BS in Biology from North Carolina State University and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Georgia in 2011. After graduation, she worked in small animal practice seeing exotics for seven years. Two of those years she spent as medical director for a corporate practice. She has conducted research on bald eagles and avian cardiac disease. She is Board Certified in Avian Practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). Dr. Locke is chair of the education committee of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV). She is a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian with the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association (WAVMA).
