Invasives Don’t Stand a Chance at Swift Creek Bluffs Preserve!

Fifteen hard-working souls joined together on Jan. 30 as a South Wake Conservationists work party to make a big dent in removing invasive plants at the Triangle Land Conservancy’s Swift Creek Bluffs Nature Preserve in Cary. The usual suspects were Japanese Honeysuckle and Chinese Privet, and in the end, twenty-four bags were stuffed full! This will give the soon-to-be-arriving native spring ephemerals room to expand, supporting local wildlife and making a glorious display. Watch for an upcoming hike later this spring to see these ephemerals, when they emerge!

South Wake Conservationists partners with the Triangle Land Conservancy in supporting our common goals to conserve wildlife habitat and connect people with nature. We have recently “adopted” Swift Creek Bluffs as a local area of focus for future conservation activities.
