These houses are very environmentally-friendly, don’t require hookup to utilities, don’t require any clearing of land, enhance property values, and are tax-free! And the birds love them! The SWC team installed three brown-headed nuthatch houses and three bluebird houses at Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh on July 31st, working with several staff at the park. We have installed several pollinator gardens there, as well as an educational nature sign, over the past few years, and we were happy to now add some new habitat for the native birds at this location. Thanks to Jeff, who custom-builds the mounting assemblies, and to Bob, Regan, and Chad, who valiantly climbed ladders with post-pounders and drills. Stay tuned for more habitat projects that Jeff is planning this year, including screech owls, in addition to bluebirds and nuthatches. All are welcome to help any time!
