South Wake Conservationists were honored to receive the 2024 Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Community Appearance / Community Impact. This was presented on Sept. 25th at a ceremony with Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin and the Raleigh Design Review Commission to SWC and many other deserving recipients at Raleigh’s Union Station.
The award was in recognition of many years of work led by SWC’s John Kinsella to enhance the natural environment and wildlife theme at the North Carolina Museum of Art Park in Raleigh. SWC has led numerous workdays to plant native trees, plant pollinator plants, remove invasive plants, and assist with the development of a special nature trail designed for the sight impaired, for which NCWF was a major sponsor. John shared the award receipt with Rachel Woods, Director of Museum Park.
