Gardeners at Simple Gifts Community Garden in Apex and South Wake Conservationists joined forces Saturday morning to remove all the wisteria that has been forming a thicket and choking the trees next to the garden. This was a force to reckon with, and the wisteria didn’t stand a chance! Vines as thick as 3 inches were literally strangling these towering trees and even left deep, indelible scars once removed. The result is a grove of mature trees, free of invasives and ready for adding some new, native plants as understory. Many thanks to all who came out today!
