The Great MLK Day Family Stilt Grass Pull

Volunteers pulling stiltgrass

Get outside this MLK Day of Service and help the City of Raleigh’s Walnut Creek Wetland Park eradicate invasive Japanese stiltgrass. Volunteers will be pulling, raking, and piling up invasive stiltgrass that grows wild in our moist, shady forests and trails. Stiltgrass forms thick mounds and thatches as it dies back and makes it really hard for trees to regenerate. The best way to deal with it is to pull it by hand, so volunteers will be making an enormous dent in the control of this species at Walnut Creek. This fun, satisfying process is best completed by hand, so this is an invasive removal for all ages!
