- Date: Saturday, March 22nd
- Time: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Place: Walnut Creek Wetland Park, 950 Peterson St, Raleigh, NC
South West Conservationists will be engaged in some Community Science work for Walnut Creek Wetlands Center in Raleigh on Saturday morning, March 22nd. For the first time, the Walnut Creek Wetland Center will be completing an ephemeral flower survey of the park. We will explore the various native ephemeral plants in the park and compile our findings for the center. These delicate and stunning shade plants should be flowering at that time. Since these flowers only show for a short window (just as the temperature begins to warm and before the tree leaves arrive), it’s easy to miss them. They are always a treat to see!
Since we will be in the field with tall grass, it’s recommended you wear hiking boots, long pants and shirt sleeves. Also, be sure to bring your cell phone as an identification aide.
