Spreading the Word About Conservation at the Beech Bluff Blast

SWC exhibit with visitors

SWC helped celebrate Wake County’s newest park on March 15th, participating in the opening of Beech Bluff County Park in Willow Spring. This 300 acre park includes four miles of trails that wind around the park, with one path that leads to a wildlife viewing deck overlooking Middle Creek, as well as a “canopy walk,” open space, a community garden, and a Park Center building featuring exhibits and classrooms. SWC was proud to be involved at the beginning preparations for the site a couple of years ago by helping remove hundreds of tires from “tire mountain” and looks forward to partnering with more conservation projects in the future.

The exhibit promoted the NCWF Save our Sounds campaign, as well as introducing people to NCWF and the SWC chapter. We distributed all of the native pollinator seed packages we had and also shared facts about the vital role pollination. Kids played our “habitat game”, tried to find the pollinators on our display board, and learned about the frog lifecycle and the sounds they make. Many thanks to Jeff, John, Dave, Cissy, and Bob M. for hosting our exhibit that day.
