Did you know that the Piedmont of North Carolina used to be covered in native grasslands? Even though we may think of the Piedmont prior to the arrival of European settlers as being a dense forest, our speaker is here to remind us that the Piedmont used to have many more sprawling grasslands than recent generations may imagine.

Have you ever looked out over your lawn and wondered how you could make it more colorful, more interesting, and more useful to wildlife? Amidst increasing public demand for alternatives to turf grass lawns, and a burgeoning awareness of the historic role grasslands and prairies have played in the ecological fabric of North Carolina, demand for large-scale herbaceous plantings is growing. However, information from regions north and west of NC (as well as Europe) tend to dominate the how-to books and websites, and can lead Southerners astray when making grasslands in their region.

Join landscape architect, Preston Montague, for a presentation on his work developing grasslands for residential clients. Participants will learn basic, practical approaches to creating grassland ecosystems in their existing lawn or garden. You will be sure to learn a lot, plus you will see some beautiful, inspiring pictures of what your yard could be!

Be sure to register below. You won’t want to miss this presentation!
