Eco Kids had a fun nature hike at Lake Johnson Park in Raleigh on Saturday, led by Cissy McKissick, checking off wildlife and nature items from their checklists along the way. It was definitely hot that morning, so being on a shaded trail through the woods was a good thing! We saw some cool spider webs, mushrooms, ferns, centipedes under logs, turtles, a couple of deer, and more.
Watch for upcoming events, including an Animal Signs Hike, Moth Night, and a Herp Walk (reptiles and amphibians) in the coming months. And don’t forget our biggest event of the year: Kids in Nature Day, which will be held Oct. 4th at Lake Benson Park. Registration for these will be posted soon, and as always, these events are free and open to everyone. We hope to see you at the next one!
