Eco Kids: Animal Signs Discovery Walk!

  • Date: Sat., Sept. 13th
  • Time: 1:00-3:00 PM
  • Place: Harris Energy & Environmental Center in New Hill, NC
  • Cost: Free!

It is a great time of year to bring the family outdoors for a fun discovery walk in the woods! Guided by environmental educator Bonnie Eamick, follow an easy path through the woods and along a stream to find all sorts of clues that animals have been there. We’ll learn how to identify some animal tracks and then enjoy a mile-long stroll through the woods, as we seek evidence of animals that live in the forest. Follow the trail along a creek to find any tracks that were left overnight and see if you can match it to our pocket guides. Scat – what’s that? Who has been disturbing the leaf litter over there? Is there someone home in that tree hollow? Use your eyes and ears to detect the many animals that leave clues behind!

This is part of our regular Eco Kids series, and all kids and their families are welcome to join us. Bring water bottles and your best observational skills! We will gather first at the picnic tables in the trees on the north side of the parking lot. Be sure to register below to hold your spot.
