Join ecologists from the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation and Dix Park artist-in-residence Preston Montague for an immersive course celebrating and protecting grassland ecosystems through the lens of the iconic bluebird. Perfect for educators and nature lovers—no scientific experience needed, just curiosity and a desire to make a difference.

Part 1: Exploring Grasslands Through the Ecology of the Bluebird

This session covers grassland ecology, the biodiversity supporting bluebird populations, and practical conservation steps—like planting native species, building habitats, and joining community science projects—led by Foundation staff.

Part 2: Birdsong and Brushstrokes: Exploring Grasslands Through Art

This session is a hands-on workshop where participants will build climate-resilient bluebird houses and create nature-inspired art under Montague’s guidance.
