It was a grand day at Lake Benson Park on Oct. 4th, as SWC held its fourth annual Kids in Nature Day! The weather was perfect, and kids got to explore 25 different nature activities, including nine with live animals. There were birds of prey, arachnids, insects (including bees), reptiles, amphibians, crustaceans, macroinvertebrates (both aquatic fetched from the lake and in compost samples), and more. Kids were also treated to using the radio location devices to find the red wolf collars actually used in the field to track red wolves. Once they completed ten or more activities, each child was offered to select a prize to take home as a souvenir!
Please watch for the next Kids in Nature Event, which will be held again in October, 2026!
