It was a blustery day, and we had to batten down all the hatches, but it was a great turnout at the SWC exhibit at the Beech Bluff Bash at Beech Bluff County Park in Willow Spring Saturday. This was our second year exhibiting there, with last year being the grand opening of this wonderful new park in the southern end of Wake County.
Our theme this year is “Wildlife Habitat.” We had our custom-designed nature board on display, as well as our classic nature trivia challenge with the Q&A board for everyone to test their nature knowledge. The kids had fun making pine cone feeders, and we even ran out of Crisco for the substrate and had to run to the store to buy more! They also got to try their luck guessing animal sounds with our sound button array.
This is a great way to engage our local community, and we have several more events scheduled over the remainder of the year. If you would like to help with our booth in the future, we would love to have you. Just watch for future postings requesting volunteers.
