South Wake Conservationists Have a Very Productive Stream Cleanup Day!

On June 2, 2021 four dedicated members of South Wake Conservationists collected approximately 567 pounds of litter from the waters of the Apollo Heights section of the Walnut Creek Greenway in Raleigh, NC. The members wore boots or waders to enter the water and access the litter. Six well-entrenched tires were also collected from the stream bed!

  1. That was a very impressive total accumulation of materials. Good to hear all members returned safely. How long a stretch of the creek were you able to cover in one outing? The tree snags must have been Nature’s way of helping retard the trash movement rate downstream. Good Job.

  2. Those before and after pictures are amazing! What an absolutely great job, gang. I know that creek breathed a huge sigh of relief once y’all came along! So impressive.
