Kids had a great time at a super-fun and hands-on educational session “All About the American Black Bear,” led by our resident bear expert and wildlife photographer Cassia Rivera. This latest event in our Eco Kids series was held at Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, Feb. 20. Cassia told stories and shared incredible photos of her over-12,000-hours of observation and photographing of black bears in the field. Then the kids examined actual bear claws, made crafts, played an educational game to learn about the black bear’s diet, learned some rules about how to be safe in the vicinity of bears, and took home personal Eco Kids bags with various bear activity sheets and stickers. It was a very busy and fun 90 minutes!
