SWC was invited to exhibit at three events on Earth Day weekend, April 23-24, and with only two days to do it all, we could only accept two of them! It was a privilege to be invited, and we thoroughly enjoyed the chance to meet and dialogue with the public about conservation. The two events we participated in were each new events this year, and the weather and turnout were great at both of them:
- Apex EarthFest at Apex Community Center
- Raleigh Arbor Day Festival at Dorothea Dix Park
Our theme for these events was Invasive Plants. We had actual specimens of twelve different invasive plants found locally, with information cards describing each, as well as information on good native plants to substitute. Many of the visitors were interested to learn more about this and asked great questions. Our Q&A nature trivia board was also fun to engage people with. Thanks to all the SWC volunteers that made this possible!
