Arbor Day in Cary

The sun emerged just in time for a very pleasant day outside Cary’s historic Page-Walker Arts & History Center in celebration of Arbor Day on Saturday, Mar. 18. This was a great “shakedown cruise” for South Wake Conservationists’ new theme for our public event displays this year: Biodiversity. The more we can spread the word to the public regarding the multi-front threats to this heartbeat of the planet and how everyone can take action to help, the better!

Events like this are good opportunities to invite new members into the chapter and increase our reach and capacity. In addition to our new educational display on this year’s theme, we proudly hung our new gold tablecloth runner with a large SWC logo on the front. Kids also enjoyed trying out our new Habitat Game.

Jeff Allen, who leads Community Engagement for the chapter, has mapped out numerous events for SWC participation for the remainder of the year, raising public awareness of our conservation mission and hopefully catching the imagination of the kids that come by, as well. Please reach out to Jeff, if you are interested and able to help represent the chapter at any future events – it is fun and always a pleasure to meet people interested in what we do!
