The weather warmed up nicely on Friday for the installation of a new interpretive sign at the pollinator gardens at Lincoln Heights Environmental Connections Magnet Elementary School in Fuquay Varina. Thanks to a grant from the Jandy Ammons Foundation, SWC was able to install this next interpretive sign in a series placed in local parks and now at a school. SWC has a long-standing relationship with this school, working on various pollinator and birdhouse projects and was pleased to be able to install this sign to give kids an introduction to the value of pollinators, in concert with the school’s environmental curriculum.
Kara Solomon, NCWF Conservation Coordinator, worked with us and the sign company to customize the sign for this location. Once we got the post set and the sign bolted together, we were joined for a celebratory photo by Laura Wood, Environmental Connections Integration Specialist at the school and our main point of contact, as well as Jason Norton, Assistant Principal. You could already hear positive feedback from kids and teachers that passed by at the end, so hopefully it can be enjoyed for years to come!
