John Kinsella

John Kinsella

It is with a heavy heart that we report that John Kinsella passed away on Thurs., April 10th, 2025. As a tireless advocate and sleeves-rolled-up conservationist, John has been a major force in this community, making the natural world in the Raleigh area a better place. He was loved by everyone whose lives he touched and served as a model of dedication to the conservation cause he believed in and lived each day. John was very active in many volunteer roles in the area, including serving as Vice President of the South Wake Conservationists, where he also served as chair of both the Garden for Wildlife and the Programs and Education Committees. He also volunteered regularly at the NC Museum of Art Park, provided rides to doctor appointments for the elderly and sick, and led programs at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, among other causes.

John will always be remembered fondly and will certainly be missed by all of us. John and his wife Beth, who has also been very active with SWC, have one son in Pittsboro and two daughters in Asheville. Funeral arrangements are as follows:

  1. I am so, so sorry to hear of this loss. John was one of the kindest humans I’ve come across in North Carolina and his conservation work was a true testament to his passion for the natural world. I’m holding you all in my thoughts in the weeks and months ahead as you mourn his loss.

  2. Monty, This is indeed sad news. As a relative newcomer to S. Wake Conservationists I’m just getting acquainted with other members, but John stands out as someone who was always there when we had a service project. Please send me his “snail mail” address so I can send my condolences to his wife.
