Let’s keep our watersheds clean! SWC has adopted a slightly raised area of the Walnut Creek Wetland Park. This is the same area that we assisted in an ephemeral survey earlier this spring. Check out this inspirational history of the restoration of this area, as the community binds together to transform an area environmentally abused for many decades back to a more healthy natural state.
Rains this week have washed a significant amount of trash from upstream, and we volunteered to clean it from our adopted area. In addition to keeping trash out of the Neuse River Watershed, an NCWF grant provides a tree or ten native plants we can plant later for every 25 pounds of trash we collect.
The park will furnish us with boots and equipment, and gloves and water are recommended. Please join us and register below.
Sorry we will be away for Gson graduation. I was at the Wetland Center today and there is a huge amount of trash in the creek again! I am doing the Green Sweep on Crabtree Creek this weekend with my kayak. Ian
