On October 12 our trash trap team suited up and cleaned out the trap. We found the normal leaf and limb debris as well as a large number of s tiny Styrofoam pieces. But, to our surprise there was also a tackle box with rubber worms and a lidless cooler. Best we could figure was that the intense lightning that preceded a severe thunderstorm, caused a fisher to quickly get to safety and then heavy rains floated their equipment downstream before they could return. Unfortunately, not much was salvable and we disposed of it with all the other non-recyclable items.
We collected over 300 items totaling over 12 pounds.
