Last Chance! in 2026 to join South Wake Conservationists and The Audubon Society for a fall invasive removal at Carol H. Johnson Environmental Education Park, located at 301 Wagstaff Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC, November 18, 2026,  9:00 to 11:00am.

SWC is partners with Wake Audubon’s ongoing project to conserve and support the natural heritage of a unique nature park in Fuquay Varina, the Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Education Park. The NC Natural Heritage Progam lists portions of this site as 7 out of 10 for natural diversity, which is exceptional for a suburban/urban location. Our first and second effort this year was incredibly effective and we look forward to the third one being the same.

Our teams cut or pull the invasives and haul them out by the parking lot. Fuquay Varina Public Works loads all this into large trailers and hauls it away as they are filled.  Last time, we filled two trailers, and there is plenty more to go!

We suggest that folks wear long sleeved shirts and pants and bring gloves and water. Tools are provided, but feel free to bring any favorite personal tools as well.
