Rescuing Native Plants

Twelve enthusiastic volunteers rescued approximately 30 Buttonbushes and several Chickasaw plumb trees from land near New Hill, NC that Duke Energy is going to develop into a solar farm bringing renewable energy on the grid for the benefit of their customers. After digging up the plants, volunteers picked out some to plant in their own native plant gardens, we transported the remaining 20 Buttonbush plants to the nearby Harris Lake County Park transplanting them in Womble Field. The Park staff were very appreciative for these wonderful plants.
