On Monday, May 24, 8:30 am – 11:30 am, South Wake Conservationists’ volunteers will be gathering with school staff to pick up trash along Bridge St. in Fuquay-Varina, NC. Lincoln Heights Elementary School, 307 Bridge St., have adopted this street as part of the NCDOT Adopt-A-Highway Program. After collecting the litter along the street, we’ll move to the back of the school and spend the rest of the time working on the pollinator garden. The garden work will include weeding, spreading compost, and adding a few more plants.
We’ll meet at the corner of Bridge St. and Washington St. at 8:30 am to begin the street cleanup. Since school will be in session, we’ll need to park along the curb on Washington St. Trash grabbers, trash bags, safety vests and gloves will be provided. Be prepared to wear your mask and maintain your distance from others during the event. Some gardening tools will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own. Please RSVP below if you will be joining us for this activity.
