Walnut Creek Wetland Big Sweep

Wetland at Walnut Creek

South Wake Conservationists (SWC) will be joining Raleigh Parks & Recreation, Partners for Environmental Justice, and Wake County Big Sweep volunteers to help in maintaining an unique urban wetland in Raleigh on Saturday, September 25, 2021, 9 am – 12 noon. We’ll be meeting at the Walnut Creek Wetland Center located at 950 Peterson Street, Raleigh, NC 27610. Hope you will join us for this cleanup. Please wear work clothes, pants and boots (rain boots recommended, no open-toed shoes) and bring a water bottle. Volunteers must pre-register and must sign a liability waiver to participate!

To register for the Big Sweep cleanup, participants will need to set up a Raleigh RecLink account. Volunteers must sign up individually, unless they are part of the same household. Once you have your account set up, you can sign up for this event by going to reclink.raleighnc.gov and click Activities under the Location drop-down, check “Walnut Creek Wetland Park” and click Search. You should find “Big Sweep” near the bottom.

If you have questions, contact Adrian Chamberlin with Walnut Creek Wetland Park at WC.WetlandCenter@raleighnc.gov or call at 919-996-2760. You may contact Chad Chandler at cfchandler@mindspring.com with questions as well. In addition to registering, please RSVP below so we’ll know who is volunteering through SWC.

  3. Sorry Chad, we have guests from California that weekend. Thanks for the heads up on the kayaking group. We’ve joined. I need to confirm with Regan, but we hope to go paddling with them tomorrow, and perhaps part of the Washington trip. I’ve also sent an email to Camu at Leaf and Limb about their volunteer planting schedule. Bob
