The Eco Kids Program is up and running! We had a wonderful turnout for our first nature hike on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 19. Fifteen kids, ranging in age from 3 to 10, hiked the two miles around Bass Lake in Holly Springs, enthusiastically discovering dozens of wildlife species along the way. While they had cards to check off things they found, these eager beavers found a number of additional species not even on the list! Everyone left with souvenir stickers, a pollinator seed packet, and a smile (plus a little sweat – it was a warm day!). Spread the word – our next nature hike is Nov. 14 at Hemlock Bluffs Park in Cary. We are also excited to hold a special nature hike with visually impaired kids through the Eye Shine Foundation Nov. 7, where we will use all our senses to discover and appreciate nature.
