Out with the weeds, in with the seeds!

SWC members are whipping the three pollinator gardens they built in the local area into shape this Fall: Lincoln Heights Elementary School, Fuquay-Varina, NC; Millbrook Elementary School, Raleigh, NC and the Big Lake in William B. Umstead State Park, Raleigh, NC. As the new pollinator plants grow to fill the spaces established, so have the weeds, but the SWC members of the Garden for Wildlife team are relentless, and the results are really starting to show. As these are fully established, ownership and ongoing maintenance will transition to the hosting organizations, as SWC continues to consult and build additional wildlife gardens in the area.

Here is our very own “Johnny Rudbeckia-seed” (AKA John Kinsella) sowing rudbeckia seeds in newly-weeded earth at the Lincoln Heights pollinator garden last Monday!
