National Day of Service Workday at White Deer Park

Chinese Privet

Attention South Wake Conservationists invasives warriors!

Volunteer for the 9/11 National Day of Service by helping park staff remove invasive plant species from White Deer Park in Garner. Invasive species we will be working on include Japanese stiltgrass, Chinese privet, autumn olive, and more.

Two sessions are available:

  • Morning Session: 9-11 AM
  • Afternoon Session: 1-3 PM

Identification and removal training will take place at the beginning of each session, so no experience required!

Tools will be provided, but volunteers can also bring their own pruners and loppers if they have them.  Participants will need to bring personal water bottles and work gloves. Long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes are recommended.

Location is White Deer Park, 2400 Aversboro Road in Garner, NC. We will meet at the Nature Center.

Email Colleen Bockhahn at cbockhahn@garnernc.gov to sign up.  Additional details will be emailed to those who RSVP via email.
