Walnut Creek Wetland Park… A Hidden Gem!

The South Wake Conservationists embraced the heat as they went on a fascinating tour of Walnut Creek Wetland Park in Raleigh. City of Raleigh’s Celia Lechtman served as the group’s fearless leader on the tour. Celia shared her wealth of knowledge regarding the park’s extensive history while pointing out the abundance of flora and fauna that frequent the habitat. It was a enjoyable morning filled with jewelweed, trash traps, poison hemlock, woodpeckers, flood facts, wetland views and laughter / good times throughout.

Keep an eye out for more opportunities at Walnut Creek Wetland Park hosted by South Wake Conservationists in partnership with the park and their awesome staff. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures below!
