Let’s help Wake County Big Sweep clean up around the Walnut Creek Wetland Center on Sat., 9/5/26 from 9:00am to 12:00am – 950 Peterson St. in Raleigh, NC.

The Wetland Center is located at a low spot-on Walnut Creek near downtown Raleigh.  It acts as a filter for all trash and debris flowing from its head waters near the Fairgrounds, past apartments, developments, dams and NC State University and accumulates a substantial amount of trash. Also, the City of Raleigh once used this as a city dump and refuge from that period still percolates to the surface creating a problem.

Beyond the environmental problems this debris creates, the site reflects a history of neglect to nearby neighborhoods. South Wake Conservationists has entered into an agreement to serve this site, and we encourage our members to help fulfill that commitment.

We have volunteered with Big Sweep on multiple occasions and have always enjoyed working with them. They are a volunteer effort to protect our watersheds, water quality and make our environment litter free. They focus on watersheds, streams, lakes and wetlands that all flow to the ocean.

Since this is a Wake County project, we will need to use this link  https://cerv.is/0105×3300     to register. Please let me know at davidbarberaic@gmail.com if you have any questions or problems.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there for good stewardship, fellowship and fun!
