Join Us for a Very Active Pollinator Garden Season!

South Wake Conservationists will be very busy this autumn enhancing or creating pollinator gardens throughout Wake County. These events will typically start at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude either 11 a.m. or noon. We hope you can join us as we beautify the county! Below is our schedule. Each event will be posted separately on this website for registration purposes.

October 5 – Bass Lake weeding

October 12 – Crowder Park weeding

October 22 – Crowder Park planting. We will be assisted by school children!

October 28 – Yates Mill Boulder Garden planting

November 2 – Millbrook School weeding

November 9 – Bass Lake planting

November 16 – Millbrook School weeding

We may have additional activities in December!

  1. Will the October 28th workday allow for the participants to remove the blackberry canes from the initial pollinator garden at Yates Mill Park? I’m assuming that the old vegetation will be left for cover and food source.

  2. John: I’ see your calendar for October and November, but sign ups for only October 12 and 20. Are sign ups for other October and November dates available now, or are coming? Bob and Regan

  3. Bob and Regan:

Thanks for your interest in upcoming SWC events. Regarding Gardens for Wildlife, November and early December should be busy. We are planning garden workdays at Yates Mill and Bass Lake Parks. Bass Lake will include some plantings. We also are exploring the possibility of creating a pollinator garden at a school in Raleigh. We will hopefully be installing some Bluebird houses at several locations and may have a workday at Millbrook school. These will be advertised as the plans are finalized! Enjoy Canada and we will enjoy New England!
