Litter Sweep along the Mountains-to-Sea Trail

People at MST cleanup event

North Carolina Wildlife Federation and the Friends of the Mountains to Sea Trail are joining forces to restore habitat along the trail by picking up litter at the mouth of Ellerbe Creek, where the creek meets Falls Lake. This creek is in the Neuse River Basin and flows more than 20 miles through North Durham, eventually spilling into Falls Lake. The event is to be held on Sunday, Jan. 29, 9 AM-12 PM at the Tom Clark Road MST trailhead (intersection of Redwood Rd and Tom Clark Road).

Volunteers will split into teams and tackle areas covered in plastic debris. The majority of the cleanup effort will take place in the woods where participants can enjoy the serenity of nature and satisfaction of giving back to the trail and surrounding habitats. As a bonus, hot biscuits and coffee will be provided before the cleanup. All required cleanup supplies will also be provided. Please register below, and we look forward to seeing you there!
