Kids in Nature Day 2023 Rocked Lake Benson!

Ranger Rick with bird on arm

Ranger Rick led the way, and 450 kids had the time of their lives at the South Wake Conservationists’ second annual Kids in Nature Day on May 6! With over 1,200 registrations and 900 actual attendees, the 2023 event was bustling with activity at 20 hands-on activity stations, yet the park provided plenty of space for all of it with open space, woodlands, and lake edge areas. One week later, results of a post-event survey indicate 100% of those surveyed want to return next year. Exhibitors report that the kids all had fun and showed a great deal of interest and engagement in the various nature-related activities, so we hope they are inspired to bring a fascination and respect for wildlife and habitat forward as they grow older.

Icons of exhibitors and sponsors

This event would not have been possible without the exceptional support and effort of all our volunteers, participating agencies and organizations, and sponsors. Also, a big thanks to Garner Parks and Recreations for their excellent partnership in hosting the event for us.

We are already thinking ahead to 2024, and if you would like to help, please reach out to Monty Morée.

  1. A very well written followup and a great selection of photos for the highly successful KIND. Thanks Monty, with Naomi’s help, for creating this event and your leadership to make it such a success.
